| Hello people of DCA! We're getting a lot of new members lately and I decided to make a beginner's guide to the forum. I'm sure there are many people that are new to forums, or new to Yuioh forums at least. This guide is intended to familiarize you with the systems we have here at DGA. The first thing you should do is check out the rules. We're not very strict here at DGA, but it's important to know what the rules are so you don't unintentionally break them. You can find the rules here: https://darkchaosacademy.forumtl.com/t1-the-rulebook
.::The Ranking System::.
One of the first thing you may notice about the forum is that the names of our members are many different colors, and they have differenr rank titles below them. Let's do a runthrough of the different possible ranks you can have:
Administrator: Purple A staff member. Administrators are the bosses of the forum. We are the ones who created the forum, so we create new topics, organize tournaments, wars, and weekly events, give out Experience, DGA Points, and ranks, set the rules, and make sure people follow the rules. Our most important job, however, is to make sure tht your stay in the forum is as enjoyable as possible, so don't hesitate to pm us any questions or concerns you may have Moderator: Pink Another staff member. Moderators help run the academy in the same ways as administrators, but they have less responsibilities and a bit more of a limit on what they can do. The main difference is that while Administrators create new things, Moderators only maintain and run those things. However, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask them either! Tester: Orange Testers test all newcomers and give them a rank based on their performance. When you first come to DGA, pm a Tester or post in their office to request a test. Here's a list of all the Tester Offices: https://darkchaosacademy.forumtl.com/c2-academy-staffs
If you think you're knowledgeable enough, you may ask to be a tester without an invite, but you must be at least Xerxes Grey and we must see your skills in dueling and ruling knowledge before you can become a tester. The Article writers. These people write articles to help everyone understand the game better and introduce to us new cards and strategies. They are experts at the game, so ask them if you have any questions about yugioh in general. Chaos Red = Red The war team, this contains the very strongest members of DGA. People in this dorm are veterans at the game, and are nearly unbeatable. They are also charged with keeping the flame of DGA alive and burning. The only ways to reach this dorm is by invitation or by buying a Vesta Dorm Test when you get enough experience to reach Dueling Level 5. Xavier Black = Black The highest ranked dorm. People in this dorm are experts at the game. Unlike Vesta, you can test right into this dorm so duel with your all on your test to get here! Xerxes Grey = Grey The middle ranked dorm. People in this dorm are good duelists but not quite experts yet. Most new members start in Archfiend. Xail White = White The lowest dorm. People in this dorm are beginners, but don't be too disappointed if you end up here! If you notice, there are few Blackrose members here. We used to have many Blackrose members, but you learn fast in this environment and almost all of them have ranked up.
.::The Testing System::. If you've ever watched Yugioh GX, this dorm system should be familiar to you. In GX, the Obelisk Blue dorm housed the experts, Ra Yellow had those who were intermediates, and Slifer Red had the beginners. But in DCA, instead of the dorms being named after the Egyptian Gods, they're named after my invented names. Xavier Black,Xerxes Grey and Xail White can all be entered just by taking a test when you join the academy. This is the testing system we use:
Deck Build : 5 possible points How good is the duelist's deck? Does it have enough speed and power to defeat powerful opponents?
Knowledge : 5 possible points How much does the duelist know about the game? Do they know the correct rulings for the cards they use or do they make mistakes often?
Strategy : 5 possible points How well does the duelist play? Do they manipulate the opponent or do they misplay often?
Side Deck: 3 possible points How well can the duelist counter the Tester's deck? How well did they build their side deck? Often times, Testers will use pretty random decks, so it's important to have cards in your side deck that work against a variety of decks instead of just the meta. Questions: 6 possible points Testers will ask you 3 ruling questions. You get 2 points for each correct question. Ruling Questions are often what set apart Archfiends from Stardust, and sometimes even Blackrose from Stardust, so make sure to study up before your test.
Member Results : 24 total points possible
Classes selecting: Xavier Black: 20-24 points Xerxes Grey: 15-19 points Xail White: 0-14 points
Your rank doesn't have to be permanent, you are allowed to re-test one month after your last test. Try your hardest and soon you will be Stardust Blue!
.::The Point System::. When someone posts, you may notice that it has something under their avatar called DGA Points. You gain DGA Points in several different ways. You gain a few every time you post so if you're extremely active, they can build up after a while. But the real wayti rack up points is to win Weekly Competitions or tournaments. You win 100-200 for Competitions and 300+ for tournements. You can spend your points on many different shops here in DGA. You can find all DGA Shops here: https://darkchaosacademy.forumtl.com/f10-deck-shop
.::Dueling Systems::.
Our main dueling system here is Duel Network (DN). DN is the best system for various reasons, including having the most cards, better graphics, better interface, better sound effects, better server, no download so you don't have to constantly update, and no way to hack it. In tournaments this is the system we use, but you may use other systems if both duelists agree. Here's the link to the DN website: http://www.duelingnetwork.com/ | |
