Reputation System

I'm testing out a Reputation system. Its not permanent, unless two conditions are met: 1. Xail Lynxz agrees it's beneficial, and 2. The general consensus on it is positive.

I believe this is a good way to find out which members are agreeable and trustworthy, and which members are not.

You can begin voting members' reputations when your post count reaches 25, or your reputation reaches 10. This will change eventually.

Maximum reputation votes per day is 5, and you must wait 10 minutes until you re-vote reputation. Reputation can be modified +1, or -1, and if you give Thanks to a user's post, you gain +1 reputation. "Thanks" is visible on topics that you start, and can only be clicked once per topic!

Your positive, negative votes and "Thanks" will be visible on your profile.

Do not abuse this system! Otherwise, it will be taken away for everyone.

Also, ultimately the decision rests with Xail Lynxz. If he wants to scrap this idea, or dislikes it, then its gone!

I have encountered a problem with the reputation system. Most users start with "0" reputation, but a few users have a reputation of "100." This, I believe, is due to an administrator activating the reputation system with the default value of "100," which gave registered users who fulfilled the requirements that value. There is no way at the current time to reset a user's reputation, and the only way I can see modifying it is to create another account and vote down the user to equal others. Unfortunately, this gives the user "negative votes" on their profile, and no one wants 100 negative votes for a reputation of 0.

There are multiple users with this amount of reputation. I believe the only plausible fix is to set everyone else's reputation at 100.

After trying this, it appears its not working. So if we are to install a reputation system, either the users are going to have to buck up and accept 100 negative votes on their profile, or keep their 100 reputation as some godly newbies

UPDATE: I've had to manually go in and downvote some people to reset their reputation. This applies to people who have made dorms. If these people would like me to delete their dorm rooms so they can make another that is fine. I have upvoted them 1 just for fun
